The Coconut Palace

By Parker Pen at 01/05/09 08:01

Yesterday, I was able to attend my Aunt's most special  day. It was  the biggest day of her life to date, because finally, after years in a good relationship, they settled for good. The wedding ceremony was held in the Coconut Palace and the post wedding reception followed immediately after.

Coconut Palace is located inside the CCP Complex, just a few blocks away from the Tanghalang Francisco Balagtas (commonly known as Folk Arts Theater) and the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel. It has its share of the view of Manila Bay and the Manila City skyline is great from that spot.

The Year That Was and The Year That Will Be

By Parker Pen at 01/02/09 07:45

It's a bit late for a 2008 year ender post, so we decided to just give you a forecast of what will year 2009 become, according to many astrologers and Chinese feng shui experts. We know not all people believe in these kind of predictions, but since a lot of our fellow Filipinos do so, then there's no reason why we won't post it here. But before that, let us give you our own view of what 2008 have been for us.

In general, 2008 had been a good year. Not great, but it was ok although I know a lot of people experienced a hard life duriing the start of the year up to its very end with all those moral and political issues that struck the country. Also, the world oil problem as well as the financial crisis abroad affected the Philippine economy. However, despite these facts, the country managed to hold its firm grounds and was able to survive. The financial crisis did land a blow on our economy, but for some reason it didn't landed heavily. As a matter of fact, just this Christmas season, market sales went onto record high proving the people still has money to spend.
