My father will be arriving tonight from Malaysia, marking the end of his full retirement. At 54, he really should retire. There are more things to do than just work, specially now that all of us, his kids, already work for ourselves.
I'm used to situations of going to the airport every time my father arrives. We would all rush to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), meet him and then the hugging series will start. Cheesy! My mom usually comes with my father on his humanitarian tours but this time, my mom went home earlier. So we'll be with her tonight to wait for his arrival.
It's always been an evening acquaintance. He usually get a flight for the Philippines that would arrive on a night, because for Filipinos, the best way to have your family together is during dinner. And usually, we dine on restaurants before going home. There have been no fix place for our rendezvous but the usual venue is Alabang since we live near it.
Traditionally, it's our parents who treats us for dinner, but this time, it will be the youngest who will spend for the occasion, and that's me! I asked for financial help from my sister but she declined my request, lol. She said she will be shouldering the expenses for my father's birthday on the 12th of July in Baguio. Gah! I don't think going to Baguio on a cold month is a good idea. I am used to cold weathers, growing up in Tagaytay requires you to stand the cold air all year round. But I have an old couple with me, I just wish those arthritis moments will not ease in. And since it's a family occasion, there's no way I can resist.
My sister have already booked 5 rooms in Baguio Concorde Hotel. One for our parents and each for us siblings. Actually I'm not fond of going to Baguio but I do love the place. I have been in Baguio for uncountable times since I was a kid but lately I have been going to different places during summer because Baguio has grown tremendously in population in residents and tourist especially during the hot season, keeping Baguio as the undisputed Summer Capital of the Philippines.
Anyway, have to go now. Until next time!
