Sweetfork cakes Interview

By Interviewer at 05/25/08 10:58

Name of your website?

Sweetfork cakes

Your name?

Mia Bagtasa

Your Location (city, etc)

Caloocan, Manila

Please give us a short summary of your website?

It's an online cake shop. We deliver our cakes within Metro Manila and can accept credit card payments to cater not only to local residents but to overseas Filipinos who want to give their loved ones in Manila gifts.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I've been baking and selling cakes for relatives, friends and their referrals, I've been getting very good feedbacks so far so I thought it would be a nice idea putting it online.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

www.sweetfork.com was launched April of 2008, though I've been selling my cakes way before.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Ahm...it sounds nice, it suits the products and I think its easy to remember.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My site is simple and direct to the point. My products are homemade with care and constant attention, that makes all the difference.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To share the joy of having my cakes.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

well...let's wait and see.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

My site is I think perfect for now, its simple and straightforward, so people visiting it won't be confused with unnecessary information.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I hope so, let's cross the bridge when we get there.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Rising overheads! From the ingredients of my products to fuel used in the delivery, sometimes you just have to absorb those additional costs to keep customers happy...and come back.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Looking for the best ingredients locally available.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Posting it in forums and blogs, let people who share the same interests know your site.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's going as planned.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's just almost a month, and I plan to keep my site as long as I can.

How would you describe your cakes?

I think my site describes it all, SWEET FORK!

What is your website address?

Sweetfork cakes
