web interview He Cares Foundation Street Children Caring Center Philippines Interview
Name of your website?

He Cares Foundation Street Children Caring Center, Philippines

Your name?

P. Lasa

Your Location (city, etc)

Quezon City, Metro Manila

What inspired you to launch your own website?

There are over a million street children in the Philippines that are in desperate need of help. It is our hope that our website can reach more people and encourage them to make a difference in the lives of these children.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was in http://www.geocities.com/he_cares_foundation/. it was a free website, since as a charity, most of our funds go directly to helping the street children. Our current website is hosted for free.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Our website is named after our organization. And the story of how we got our name is written in http://www.hecaresfoundation.com/name.htm

Please give us a short summary of your website?

He Cares Foundation is a Christian non-profit organization that helps provide extremely poor street children of Metro Manila, Philippines with basic needs like food, clothing, education and medical assistance and aims to bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our website gives information about our mission and programs and invites people to donate in cash or kind, or volunteer your time and skills to help us make a difference.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our website offers visitors the chance to make a difference in the lives of the street children by volunteering their time ans skills or by donating to help in the mission. We have inspiring stories by volunteers as well as personal stories about the street children.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To reach more people to help in the mission of helping the street children.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

When we make an investment of time and money, we may not see the fruits right away, but continue to have faith that God will bless our efforts. Each person that the website brings to help in our mission is a great blessing and what we consider our success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would have professionals evaluate our website and make more link building efforts to improve search engine rankings and be more visible.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Not really, this is a small volunteer effort

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

none yet

What has been your biggest challenge?

finding the time to work on search engine optimization

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

we're still working on it

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

it's going as expected

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have just recently taken over and will continue to do so as long as I can, although I would hope to get some donations and volunteers to encourage me to keep up the work.

What is your website address?
