Please give us a short summary of your website?
Award winning designer and makers of high quality contemporary furniture made of wood, rattan and iron from Cebu Philippines
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Exposure and access of information inspired me to have my own website. This is one of the best way for me to show the people the products I design and manufacture.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first and only website. It was launched in 1999.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I used my company name as my website name for easy recall to visitors.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I think it's our designs. I designed our products using the skills of craftmen and women living around my factory and some in nearby villages using traditional materials like wood, rattan, bamboo, coco and other indigenous materials. I mixed them sometimes with aluminium, stainless steel, Polyethylene and other industrial materials. We always search for technology applicable to enable us to produce our products economically with least impact on our environment. All our products are handcrafted using years of experience of our people. We try all the time to find innovative ways of interpreting our tradition. This is what I think make us unique in a way.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My eventual goal is to become a respectable designer and have a succesful manufacturing arm. Employ more people and help more my community as part of my Corporate Social Responsibility program.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I have invested a lot of my time and money thinking it will pay me long term. I firmly believe it will pay off in the future and it's worth all the risks and my time.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
It would help me develop and experiment new things. Budget is very relevant in any development exercise. Sometime compromises are applied if budget restraints are imposed. Unlimited budget can help you think far outside the box.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I think I will be able to keep up with it.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Costs like photographer's fee, graphic artists, webdeveloper's fee, etc.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is to improved my website's popularity and have more websites linked to mine. Another challenge is to keep it relevant and interesting all the time.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Registration on search engines and direct e-mail invitation to our prospective buyers are some of my most successful efforts.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has differed a bit in a sense that the number of visits have not improved dramatically since I had it updated.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It has been up since 1999 and I think I will continue having it while my company exists.
Sitio you grew up from?
Tunob Lapok
