I have featured the Province of Cavite before, and now I would like to share with you the richest town of the province, Dasmariņas, the industrial giant of CALABARZON [Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon]. It would be easy for me to discuss things about Dasmariņas because I grew up in this lovely town. However, I will not go into details and will just give you the important facts about it.
Dasmariņas, a first class municipality, is the richest town of Cavite and dubbed as the Industrial Giant among it's neighboring towns and provinces. It is also the most populous municipality in the country, a reason why seated and aspiring government officials always visit the town, looking for potential voters. In the last 15 years, the town converted from agri-based to a highly industrialized district. The economic increased are largely due to industrial investments that are located in the three industrial estates of the town, the First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE), Dasmariņas TechnoPark and the NHA Industrial Park. Products from these business parks are mostly cars for Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi, computer products for Intel, Logitech and Analog, appliances, garments and a number of others. It's proximity to Metro Manila is also one of the reasons why it is a favorite place for investments and residential purposes.
Dasmariņas is also the only town in the country that has two of the biggest shopping malls, SM Supermall and Robinson's. It is also a known fact that the municipality of Dasmariņas is the Education Capital of Cavite and the University Town of CALABARZON. It is because it has the highest number of colleges and universities as compared to other municipalities in the region. Some of the most famous universities located in Dasmariņas are De La Salle University, Technological University of the Philippines, AMA Computer University, Philippine Christian University, Lyceum University of Cavite (located in the boundary of Dasmariņas and Gen. Trias), among others. There are also a number of private and public schools offering college, high school and elementary education.
There are also big Catholic churches in the municipality and a few numbers of other religions groups. Dasmariņas is also home to one of the country's premiere golf and country club, The Orchard, which hosted once the Johnnie Walker Classic Cup. There are also a large number of farm, resorts and refreshment establishments, among them are Fisher's Farm Resort, Volet's, Double V, Madrigal Farm Estates, Dalisay Farms, Camp Dalisay Firing Range, Caribe, Dasma Driving Range, Hacienda Perfecta, The Veranda Nights, Mandaragat and a lot of others.
The idea of the cityhoood of Dasmariņas is highly rejected before by the townspeople. According to them, there's no need for it because they are already contented with the status of the town. However, recent surveys showed the people are now ready to face the evolution of Dasmariņas from a first class municipality to a gorgeous city. Cityhood campaign will start this year.
The taste of modernity has not changed the face of Dasmariņas as one of the greenest and cleanest place of the country. Truly, I will never be closest to home than in Dasmariņas. It is my home, and it will always be.
