UP Pep Squad - 2008 UAAP Cheerdance Competition Champions

By ProTraveler at 09/07/08 14:14

I had a long day with my friends, we went to a lot of places today because you know, it's a Sunday, everybody's day-off. But I don't like to discuss about that just now. I wanted to share my views about the recent conclusion of the 2008 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Cheerdance Competition.

The UAAP Cheerdance competition is one of the most anticipated cheerleading competition every year. Major universities of the country competes for the title including University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), Far Eastern University (FEU) and Adamson University (AdU). Usually the event is held in Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Youth For I.T. 2008 - University of the Philippines

By ProTraveler at 09/06/08 18:52
, University of the Philippines Diliman: Youth For I.T. 2008

Last Friday, I went to the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City because I planned earlier that week that I will attend the 2008 Youth For I.T. (Y4iT). Even though I am not an I.T. professional, I still wanted to attend the event for some reason. And besides, I believe one of my friends is an officer in that event, so I thought why not pay him a visit.

I wanted to see Sen. Imee Marcos, the daughter of former president Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda Marcos, as she is one of the guest speakers and also my niece is there as a school-registered attendee. But when I got there, my plan for Y4iT changed. I was hesitant to register since a lot of people are crowding the entrances, most of them are in delegations, from schools around the metro and nearby provinces. I'm like a lost kid in the middle of a foreign market.

Wet and Wild Country Driving Adventure

By ProTraveler at 09/05/08 21:56
For the past few weeks, I have been very busy with a lot of things. My friends were busy as well that we never had much of the chance to go out like what we used to do. So we decided that next week, we'll go on an adventurous country driving on parts we are not very much familiar with.

Actually, when it comes to parts of Cavite and its neighbor provinces in the Southern Tagalog Region like Batangas, Laguna and Rizal, there's no way we'll be lost. We're pretty much familiar with every town and the ways around them because since we were kids we love traveling. We would sometimes sneaked out of our houses in the morning, hopped on provincial buses to anywhere they will take us and then find our way home before dark.

The Treetop Provinces

By L. Madrigal at 09/04/08 18:48
The Treetop Provinces are not in the Philippines. They are not in other countries either. Actually, the Treetop Provinces are supposed to be non-existent in the real world. If you have watched Bridge to Terabithia, then you'll know that the Treetop Provinces are actually ruled by Dragonfly Warriors.

But I have made a great discovery yesterday. The Treetop Provinces we thought non-existent, happens to be real. And I was surprised that they are not soldiers who are wrapped in gold armor suits. Instead, they are living in complete isolation and wears nothing but a piece of clothe.

Humanitarian Services During in Mindanao

By L. Madrigal at 09/03/08 21:23
My sister just came back from her humanitarian works in Mindanao. She went there to teach little kids who were unfortunate enough to attend a good school and be sent to a school by their parents. And the fact that Mindanao now is currently in not a stable situation because of Muslim rebels, kids are having a hard time learning properly due to intermittent schooldays.

She talk a lot of things she did while in Mindanao, but the thing that got my attention is about the victims of the ongoing war. Aside from being a humanitarian teacher, she also volunteered as a medical worker.

Ideal Expat Neighborhoods for New Comers

By L. Madrigal at 09/02/08 05:39
Coming to the Philippines may be easy for foreigners. Acquiring a visa to enter the country will not even make you sweat. The hard part of it is getting along the culture easily and the quest for a place to stay.

The Philippines is a highly urbanized country despite being coined as one of the "third world". Just recently it was brought up to the level of "newly industrialized country". If you are an expat who's looking for a place to stay in the metros, it will be easier, but for those who are looking for a peaceful settlement away from the bustling highways, it will be a bit difficult, unless you know someone who is a native.
