Yesterday, a team of experts from overseas went to Cebu, specifically in SM shopping center. They are educators affiliated with the National Geographic Society and is roaming Asia to educate people about global warming. They presented slides and movie clips to the public regarding the matter. One of the major concerns of the team is that the Philippines, with its growing economy and vast population, also comes with great pollution. And this is one of the cause of global warming.
The team cited major parts of the world that contributes a lot in the depletion of the ozone thus helping global warming become a deadly realization of humans doing. The team also cited key cities of Asia who contributes to the problem as well. And one of them is Manila along with other Philippine cities like Quezon City and Mandaluyong.
For all I know, these cities mentioned above really needs some change. True, they are very crowded and they are very much polluted. These bustling cities enjoy the growth of money but suffered the fate of being unnaturally ugly and dirty. Although there are parts of these cities I really enjoyed living at, the general appearance and features are all not that good.
The black smoke coming factories and vehicles is really an eye sore. The cluttered street people are annoying in many sense. The jam packed traffic is very irritating. But in response to these problems, the government is doing its best to erase all of these impressions. They are now starting to clean these cities, bring back the green lushes in the middle of the metros by planting trees, taking off big billboards that blocking the natural skylines, and moving the street people to a more descent place to live where they will be taken care of. Plus, the government also put garbage cans and garbage bins in every corner of the street so that littering will be avoided by many.
I just hope these efforts will pay off in time. Lets wish for that.
