The Philippine Version of Taxi

By Jude Wallenberg at 05/13/08 06:03

If you are in the China, you either have the option of riding a train, a bus, a taxi, or a bicycle. If you are in Indonesia, you have those options plus you can also ride a chariot that is being held by an elephant. Now, if you are in the Philippines, you either have the option for a taxi, a train, a tricycle, a bicycle, or a kalesa.

What in the world is a Kalesa?

YouTube Video

A Kalesa is a chariot driven by a fully grown horse. It is the most famous way of roaming the cities and tourist destination in the country. It is always a lovely experience riding a Kalesa while visiting one place to another.

So next time you ask for a taxi in your next vacation to the Philippines, look for a Kalesa.
