For the last five years, the record for expats in the Philippines reached its highest number. There are studies that show international visitors who decided to live in the country for good increased by 33%. Before, the Chinese, Japanese, Americans and Australians are the commonly known foreign settlers in the country. However, they were easily outnumbered by travel freak Koreans.
Recently, the statistics shows that about 1-2 million Koreans visits the Philippines yearly. Most of them visits Cebu, Boracay, Puerto Galera and Manilamainly for relaxation, sightseeing, travel adventures and most of all, to study English. It is widely known that the Philippines is the largest English country in Asia. Although India has the most number of English speakers due to the size of their country of which 85% of their population speaks English while Philippines gained 82%. Still, the person who speaks the language per square meter is still high for the Philippines low population as compared to India big one.
English is the 2nd official language of the country, aside from over 300 native tribal languages of each ancient tribe. And it is also a known fact that Filipinos have the most flexible tongue when it comes to speaking different languages.
That is the biggest reason why Koreans for the past few years invaded Philippine schools and many tourist spots. They want to be globally competitive, although they are already, but most of them do not know how to speak proper English.
Some other Koreans already built their grounds here, forming their own businesses and organization and eventually legalizing their tenancy and communities in the country.
