Every year, the island of Camiguin celebrates one of their best month of harvest of their primary product, lanzones. This year, there's no stopping this celebration from getting bigger and bigger on its 29th year.

The festival is a one week celebration. It usually takes place every third week of the month and this year it will be celebrated from October 18 to 24. The festival is always marked by a holy mass on the morning of the festival's first day. Then usually followed by a parade and showcasing of Camiguin's finest lanzones, the tastiest of them all!

The Lanzones Festival has always been star studded. Aside from entertainment celebrities attending the festival, the presence of the president, Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is always there. She always see to it she'll attend the festival and somehow that reason put the festival in level with bigger ones such as the Sinulog Festival and the Pahiyas.

During the festival, there are a lot of recreational activities such as the much awaited Music Showdown, Palarong Pinoy (Pinoy Sports), other sports competition like Taekwondo, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Boxing etc. There is also a beauty contest that really rock the nights of the festival.

In addition, there are numerous concert shows for the week long celebration. The Street Dancing competition is also a popular event during the festival, one of the many that regularly attracts visitors.

Also, in time with the Lanzones Festival, San Miguel Beer's October Beer Festival (Oktoberfest) is simultaneously celebrated in the streets of Camiguin. So for those who loves beer, its your chance to show off your drinking skills while eating Lanzones at the Lanzones Festival 2008 of Camiguin!
