Philippines Prioritizing Medical TourismBy holga at 05/11/09 19:50
On a recent interview with Department of Tourism Secretary Ace Durano, he said that his department is giving a lot of attention for promoting the Philippines as the one-stop-health-shop of Asia. Medical Tourism has finally gotten the attention it needed to flourish in our own country and to help people from abroad to get cheaper yet quality health care. With hundreds of Filipino nurses abroad, it is an undeniable fact that it is the caring and passion to help that let people of other race trust us with their own health. It is the Filipino's natural skill to treat patients with care that earn them their reputation. Last March 26-28, 2009, the Dept. of Tourism headed by Sec. Ace Durano with the participation of the The Medical City, St, Luke’s Medical Center, George Dewey Medical Center, Makati Medical Center, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Asian Eye Institute, Health and Leisure-Gulf Express Corp., The Zen Institute (Medical Spa), Capitol Medical Center, Global Vital Source, Manila Doctor’s Hospital, Medical Center Manila, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine Heart Center, St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center, Tagaytay Hospitals, University of Sto. Tomas Hospital, World Citi Medical Center, Philippine Retirement Authority, Noli Center for Alzheimer’s and Elderly Care, Philippine Dental Association, Cebu Doctor’s Hospital, Chong Hua Hospital and Perpetual Succour Hospital hosted the 4th World Health Tourism Congress (WHCT). The congress was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex. The congress was very timely to promote the Philippines as Asia's new medical hub for cheaper yet quality heart care. The congress attracted a lot of individuals and companies in the field ranging from Middle East, the United States, Europe and Australia. Some of those who attended the congress are Continental Medical Solutions, Global Med Choices LLC, Health Travel Guides, the Federal Ministry of Health Sudan, Kapico Travels & Tourism, the Ministry of Health Libya, National Health Insurance (Daman), Qatar Insurance Company, Resort Destination Marketing LLC, the Saudi Armed Forces Medical Services and Surgery Planet.

Hi! I'm writing an article on medical tourism in the Philippines. Would you know of anyone who's coming over to RP for medical and leisure needs ( cosmetic and plastic surgery, dermatology, weight loss surgery, ophthalmology, and dentistry) The patient's identity need not be revealed. I would just like to ask a few questions re first-hand experience. Thank you! Comment #2 theresa at 06/15/09 00:47
comments ko lang, first of all promote the Philippines as Asia's new medical hub for cheaper yet quality heart care that,s good idea, but needs more thing a lot to do,Thailand also promoting medical hub but they are already success and known and popular among middle east, and even european patience, beacause of the good reputation, and affordable, good services, the facilities i consider is 3 to 5 star, and good satisfaction.now if we take a look and compare to our hospital here in philippines, first of all Department of Tourism Secretary Ace Durano,if you visit bumrungrud or samitevij or other hospital in bangkok thailand, the facilities are similar standard with lobby hotel, while different fancy restaurants,or even mc donalds, kfc, starbucks coffee,7 eleven are always available 24 hrs aday,at the lobby.some has free veberage and cookies and so on, so are we ready to promote our makati medical hospital or saint lux to be the best hospital in philippines, maybe our hospital facilities needs to improved first.
