Located in the middle of the Sulu Sea in the island of Mindanao, the Tubbataha Reef National Park is one of the world's most diverse marine sanctuary. Underlying the Cagayan ridge, wherein lines of inactive volcanoes are located, the 92, 828 hectares of marine land boasts of its magnificent scenes. It is one of the country's best destination for divers and marine life enthusiasts.
First proclaimed as a National Marine Park back in 1988, Tubbataha even got the respect of the world when UNESCO included it as a World Heritage in 1993.
Just recently, the Tubbataha Reef National Park was nominated to be one of the new 7 Wonders of the World, and it's doing good in the poll. This just proves the beauty of Tubbataha can capture the heart and attention of people worldwide. I've seen the reef once during a cruise from Manila to Zamboanga and route around the Sulu Sea. Even from afar, you definitely cannot deny the greatness of its beauty. The rich biodiversity of Tubbataha is just amazing! Tubbataha is just 92 nautical miles away from the Philippines cleanest place, Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan.
The good thing about the government's promotion of the reef is that it does not only provide ways for tourism, it also lead the people increase their awareness about nature's failing status.
To wrap it all, Tubbataha is a paradise. Although its a bit hard to get there, the effort you'll exert to visit it will all be worth your sweat.
