Climbing Philippine Mountains

By Jude Wallenberg at 05/06/08 15:16

Philippines is blessed with diverse waters, rich plains and gorgeous mountains. Either of this natural wonders will make you believe Philippines is a paradise.

Recently, my friend Jacob Sarreal or Coby to his friends arrived from his last mountain climbing session with his friends and club mates from the Silverbacks Mountaineers Club. Their recent adventure happened in Mt. Matarem located in the northernmost province of the Philippines, the Batanes group of Islands. From there you can almost see the neighbor country of Taiwan.

This video actually took place last year when he and his teammates climb the second highest peak in the country, Mt. Pulag.

Mt. Pulag is also the highest peak in Luzon, the biggest island of the Philippines. Mt. Apo being the highest peak in the country but is located in the island of Mindanao in the south.

As I watched this video, I can feel how happy they are upon reaching the peak. And everytime he narrates his adventures, I can really tell how fulfilled he is. He really enjoys climbing Philippine mountains and they will soon conquer international peaks as well.

Next time you visit the Philippines, do not forget mountain climbing as part of your list, for I am sure you will enjoy it too.
