Coffee Prince

By ProTraveler at 02/27/08 15:46

Ok, this post is not about the ever famous television series, but is slightly related not with the story, but with the title.

The Pahimis Festival, as what I've mentioned in one of my previous post, is currently ongoing. I wasn't able to come because I have a lot of things to do, but I always receive news about the festival everyday. For the benefit of others who missed the post, though you can still look on the archives, Pahimis Festival is the Philippines' Coffee Festival held in the coffee capital of the country, Amadeo, Cavite. It is celebrated every last week of February.

The last that I heard about the festival is that the competition for the best coffee farmer has already ended, the search for the Coffee Prince 2008 is now off. Its the counterpart of the Miss. Pahimis Beauty Pageant. The winner of the said competition is, fortunately, a farmer of our family's farm. His name is Michael Sundang. Congrats Michael! While on the other hand, the winner Miss Pahimis is none other than the sister of last years winner, Elaiza Gautengco. This only proves that beauty runs in their blood, lol haha.

Performers for the festival this year includes prominent local artists and bands. Competitions are also held it many categories like singing contest, dance contest, best coffee taste, biggest coffee bean and more. There are also what we call 'tiangge', a mini version of Flea Markets. That is the place where people can buy goods and souvenirs of the festival.

The festival is not as grand as the previous celebrations, but still it went well and sound. Its due to end on the 29th of February.
