It is the Pahiyas Festival. The festival is said to be the grandest festival in the Philippines. It is a colorful feast that is said to be 'the fiesta to end all fiesta'. Pahiyas Festival is the town feast of Lucban, Quezon. It officially starts every May 15, only a few days before the rain starts to fall marking the official end of summer.
Pahiyas Festival is known to have the power to gather the nation. Even Filipinos working abroad sometimes go back to their homeland for the Pahiyas. This festival is done in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. With this you got the idea of how colorful the festival would be. All kinds of fruits and plants are being showcased during the occasion. For you to know, summer is the season where the biggest number of crops are being harvested.
The President of the Philippines is always a must for the celebration. The President is always present in every Pahiyas Festival. There are also games like decorating your houses with colorful materials with fruits and other products of the town. Oh I almost forgot, Pahiyas is also to showcase Lucban's products such as Abaca fiber hats, embroidered clothes, native foods and more.
You still have so much time to prepare for the Pahiyas, the fiesta national mileage only last for a day but the actual town celebration last for a week. This is one of the festivals you must never miss.
