The President of the Philippines will be delivering her 9th State of the Nation Address in her almost 2 terms in the office on July 27th and the Filipino people are hoping that this will be her last. This is amid rumors that the president is cooking matters for her extension as the Prime Minister by urging the lawmakers to pass the bill making the government parliamentary.
The Constitutional Assembly has passed the House of Representatives but it still has to go through the Senate to be ratified. The Senate assured the people that Con-Ass will not be entertained in their halls, at least for the current president's regime. But who knows whats happening behind the barracks.
It is not sure whether the President will address the matters regarding Con-Ass in her forthcoming SONA 2009 but rumors has it that she will play silent about the issue and will not mention it in her speech. Perhaps she realized it is not good to leave the office with angry people cursing her. That is if she will leave office.
Expected topics to be delivered by the President includes the due completion of her road projects. It is remembered that she promised to connect major cities to other cities and provinces to make transportation easy especially to the farmers who transport their goods other markets.
It is also expected that she will brag of her successful travels abroad to gain international exposure (for the country), attract foreign investment and strengthen international ties. Recently her travels abroad sparked controversy when it was revealed that she spent millions of dollars just to travel as well as documented unofficial flights.
And before we forget, annual SONA will not be complete without the presence of the protesters / rallyist in the streets of Commonwealth and this year we are not expecting a change in this trend.
