As we all know, Palawan in the Philippines is considered as one of the least developed paradise in the world. And this is actually the reason why people wanted to visit and live there. Palawan is know as the cleanest place in the country. It is also regarded as the last frontier of the Philippines. You can find countless recreational activities in Palawan from their native sports called Sepak Takraw, their authentic foods, the native dances and costumes, and everything you can think of.
But there is this one municipality in Palawan that has is not frequently visited. It is silently waiting to captivate visitors. It is the hidden paradise of Palawan. Its name is Cuyo.
I watched the premiere of the upcoming movie Ploning, starred by Philippine actress Judy Ann Santos. And I must say, I was amazed. I never really liked Pinoy films, not because I don't like watching it, but because most of the stories are all the same. But this one got my interest when I saw in the poster that it was filmed in Cuyo, a very unlikely place to film especially when it was a target of stories in my elementary years that witches, sigben and other dark elements lived there. And the film wasn't even horror, its a love story.
To answer my curiosity, I decided to watch. I was not disappointed fortunately. The film proved to be different from the others. And the location of the set was perfect! Cuyo, I might say, is the hidden paradise of the Palawan. The scenes of the film can proved it. The sunset, the clear blue waters, fishes and small sharks swimming peacefully near the shoreline, dolphins from afar and more.
The premiere were attended by reporters from tabloids, radios and television. And right after the movie, in less than an hour, there was already a forecast about the movie telling how great it was. They even promoted Cuyo and quoted "The film used the advantage of the setting wherein people do not expect THAT big from their location. Using Cuyo, Palawan is the bomb for the film. It showed how lovely the place is. With the location, with those great performances from the actors, this is definitely the movie of the year."
Ploning will be shown on Philippine cinemas this coming April 30th.
