The Rainy Day Promo

By Jude Wallenberg at 05/27/08 03:29

The rainy days are here again. Its time to bring those umbrellas out. But if you feel like soaking yourself under the rain, well go ahead.

It's a common knowledge that there are good and downsides of this kind of season. The downsides are, of course, the summer heat is over. Secondly, it also means school is about to start in Philippine schools. Third, water is everywhere. So if you're hydrophobic, aahhh, I can see how would you react. In many parts of the country, flooding is a common thing, especially for those located in low land areas and no proper drainage system. Another bad thing about the rainy season specially concerns the youth. Because rainy days mean they have to bring umbrellas that can ruin their get-up. But for a person who loves the rain like me, the above mentioned reason is nothing.

But of course, the good sides are also here. First off, rainy season means a lot of discount and promos! T'is the season of the freebies! Aside from the back-to-school promos given by shopping malls in time for the school openings and enrollment days, they also give another promo, the Rainy Days Promo.

Those two promos are annually given. The back-to-school promo is offered from May-June, of which focuses on school supplies and other student needs. Although the whole mall goes on a discount, its still the school supplies that are brought down to their lowest price including papers, notebooks, pens, bags and even school uniforms.

On the other hand, the Rainy Days promo is a mandatory discount event in every shopping mall in the country that targets mommies and working people who deals with the rain every day. This is the time to shop your stylish umbrellas. There are umbrellas that are small enough you would think its just a cellphone. There are also fashion jackets and rain coats for kids and teens. This is also the only time of the year you can buy the ever beautiful Ocean Red orchids. It's a special type of orchid that is cultured in the highlands of Tagaytay. It grows red when the flower sprouts sometime in June and July. And it can only bloom when raw rain waters it. I don't know why but the flowers do not open with ordinary water. There must be some scientific explanation and I have to uncover that.

Anyway, it's getting cold now and the rain is starting to fall. Have to park my pen now, oooppps, my fingers for that matter. Here's for the rain! Cheers!
