Whenever I feel the need to be alone with myself and reflect on things about my life, I go into "hiding" to seek myself, in places not any of my family and friends know. These places have been part of me and have played a huge part during my growing up days.
I really am a very emotional man and am the type that needs to remind myself once a while about the realities of life. In doing so, I need to be in a quiet place, in places where no one will call my name or will ask me questions. Well, now that soul hunting is over, it wouldn't hurt if I share these places.
La Verna Prayer House in Tagaytay is definitely one of my most visited "soul searching" area. This is a private retreat house and a place for reflection. I have been a regular visitor here before they treated me almost as a resident. I love the warm people despite the cold, foggy air that surrounds this magical land. No need to worry about your religion, they'll accept you just as you are. You can also enjoy viewing Taal Lake and Swiss village Crosswinds from La Verna.
Mabini, Batangas is also one my favorite spots. The place is great when you have someone with you but I prefer being alone, walking on the sands or sitting under the trees while looking at the vast waters of the ocean. If I need to finish reading a book or a project that needs deep concentration, I won't mind hours of traveling just to reach Mabini. Although Mabini has commercially been exploited due to its lovely diving and snorkeling sites, there are still places that can give you complete privacy.
San Pablo City in Laguna is the third place on my list when it comes to soul searching. Unlike the two previous places mentioned, I have no relatives nor properties in San Pablo. The first time I went there was to meet a friend whom I have been talking to for the last 7 years over YM but was not able to meet her personally. We finally met in 2007 and she toured me in San Pablo, which I loved instantly. Since then, I have been a frequent visitor to the place. The 7 Great Lakes are definitely the city's most priced spots. Choose which lake to visit and you can just sit there on the lawn or under the trees for the whole day and no one will bother you. The peaceful, serene environment of the place sets the mood for memory flash backs. The beauty of it will make you want to come back.
