Just recently we have blogged about how disastrous typhoon Frank was. For those who have just tuned in, typhoon Frank is a catastrophic storm that hit the Philippines and resulted to hundreds of casualties and billions of property value lost. Typhoon Frank in known internationally as Typhoon Fengshen. There have been a lot of devastating things that happened during the storm. There were kids who were electrocuted from downed electric posts that touched the surface of water. There are also a lot of houses located in low lands that were flooded and you can clearly see how the water rose up to the roofs. But the saddest thing the storm has brought the country is the sinking of the ship, Princes of the Stars.
There are more or less 900 passengers and crews aboard the unfortunate when it sailed the deadly waves during the typhoon. And out of the 900, only 70 survived, and the rest of them are already dead and many are still missing. Whether who's to blame is not the arguable thing as of the moment, they will have their time to pay for their careless actions, what's important now is how would the family of the victims can recover for this sad event.
Everything is under investigation now, although I doubt if the results will be given fast. The coast guard is said to be the one who is responsible for the accident since it was clear that they allowed the ship to sail despite the storm. The ship's company, Sulpicio Lines, also plays a major role in this case. The captain of the ship itself was blamed by many for his irresponsible actions. Unfortunately, he cannot answer the accusations, because he died with his ship.
When I first heard of this news last Monday, I really felt devastated. I do not want to imagine how these people died in the middle of the sea while seeing their ship sinking in seconds.
I'm actually one of the people who love traveling by sea, but I think I will not be doing that on the coming months. I remember I told you just a few days ago that I plan on visiting Camotes Islands in Cebu. Well, I've canceled that for the moment. Maybe I'll just do that when this weather becomes better and this tragic memory is made a thing of the past.
