Later that year Siargao was flooded with tourist and surfing enthusiast. Those surfers found harmony and peace at the island and finally settled for good. About 40% of the island's population are expatriates and foreign visitors.
The surfing craze in Siargao have made miracles to the country's economy as well. The surfing shops and surf board makers sprung like mushrooms every year.
