UP Technohub

By Philip P. Ines at 11/20/08 22:52

Earlier this year, the vacant lot that is being occupied by carnivals, "tiangge" and other side shops during Christmas time was transformed into something very useful for everyone especially to those students studying in the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

The project started when the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman and Ayala Land Inc., teamed up for this 98.5-hectare UP North Science and Technology Park. Obviously, they are targeting it to be the university's center for science and technology research and development. When all is complete, it will be the first of its kind in the country.

The Mall Parks

By Philip P. Ines at 11/19/08 18:34
Filipinos are born shoppers. It's not surprising that the Philippines has more shopping malls than other big countries in Asia and with other continent as well. As a matter of fact, 3 of the world's biggest shopping malls, SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA and SM Megamall, can be found in the country, unusual feat for a country so small.

Aside from shopping, another notable things about Filipinos is their love for the outdoors. Everyone loves to go an open air place that's why parks and open fields are a hit in the country.

Endless Skies

By Philip P. Ines at 11/16/08 09:18
I have always love places that lets me have a view of wide plains, vast farmlands with open skies. Perhaps this is the reason why I love Tagaytay so much. It being situated on high hills, it has a great view of low lying places such as Batangas, wide bodies of water and other parts of Cavite and Laguna.

This is also the reason why my favorite parts of the house are the terrace, the top floor observatory, lanai and the garden. With them, I feel very compfortable. I can easily think of things and ideas whenever I am in one of those places.

By Philip P. Ines at 11/13/08 19:33
Over the years, the Philippines has earned the name of having the longest Christmas season the whole world. This is evident with the tradition of putting Christmas lanterns as early as September along with children caroling from house to house. The official Christmas season ends in early January after the epiphany.

But as what the good old folks said, Christmas in the country can last throughout the year as the through essence of Christmas is hope and giving, which is a trait most Filipinos are very fond of.
